MONOGRAPHY

The name Columbia was used to designate the first space shuttle to have set a communications satellite into orbit.

Communication is the most important human link. The ability to communicate in two languages, consequently, doubly assures success; specially since English is the universal language in technology as well as in business. A simple glance at political geography, on the other hand, reveals the importance of Spanish as a mother tongue.

Within the fields of science and technology, a space shuttle represents the zenith of human achievement in mankind’s search to understand nature. Implicit in such a marvelous vehicle is Western World accomplishment and prestige in physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics; and therein contained is practically all human achievement and endeavor, in its ever continuing search for perfection, and discovery of the universe.

The name Columbia itself, ties in with the oldest university in the United States of America –situated in New York City-, and also relates strongly to and is reminiscent of New World discovery.
